About Us

Airson òigridh - For youth

Spòrs Gàidhlig is a social enterprise working throughout Scotland which creates opportunities for young people to use and learn about Gaelic in a fun, positive and supportive setting. We offer outdoor activities, residential camps, educational programmes and events.

We can provide a range of outdoor activities, educational programmes and bespoke events. Our residential camps are popular and provide young people with the opportunity to engage in activities and meet new friends.

We cater for young people who speak Gaelic, those who are learning and also those who have no current knowledge of the language.

A light introduction to the language is possible which allows participants to engage and learn without the hard sell. Learn about How we use Gaelic

Our core principles are:

  1. Foster and grow the Gaelic Language in Scotland
  2. Support young people to gain confidence and new skills
  3. Work with others to allow them to use Gaelic
  4. Leave a positive legacy

Spòrs Gàidhlig can offer something extra - we can introduce young people to the Gaelic language as well as providing everything you would normally get through an outdoor learning service.

We can deliver outdoor education programmes which can transform the learning experience and link to classroom based activity.

If the Gaelic language is to be relevant and strong in the present day, young people must have opportunities to enjoy and take part in activities which are at least as good as those delivered in English. The postitive association betweem Gaelic language activities and a young person's language ability and tendency to use the language, is critical to the health of Gaelic in Scotland.

We work closely with schools to deliver learning outcomes and assist with the delivery of their priorities. Our programmes are aligned with the Curriculum for Excellence and GIRFEC.

Spòrs Gàidhlig is a part of Comunn na Gàidhlig which delivers wider youth and community work throughout Scotland although operates as a separate company. You can find out more about CnaG at
