Turas nan Eilean Siar should be a rewarding, challenging and enjoyable experience for all participants. Personal challenge will certainly be a feature for all participants and we would like to ensure that each person's journey is as safe, enjoyable and achievable as possible. To this end, we are providing some information on cycling and general equipment so that participants, parents and guardians can prepare for the journey.

Our support vehicle will cary the majority of the equipment but each participant will be required to carry spare clothing, snacks, maps and a repair kit with them on their bikes. Therefore, when preparing for the trip, participants should divide their equipment into two distinct groups; 1) to be carried each day on the bike and 2) to be carried by the support vehicle during the day.

In Eriskay and fully loaded with camping gear.

We are trying to keep this realistic and understand that cycling equipment is expensive and not easy to look at beforehand if you don't live near a cycle shop. Therefore, based on experience, we are making some general recommendations from online suppliers.

Particpants will be required to carry some equipment each day on their bikes. We will not allow backpacks and rucksacks.

Mandatory cycling equipment for each participant - if in doubt, get in touch at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 01463-234138
